We distinguish between continuing vocational training and general continuing education.
Continuing vocational training
What follows on from vocational training? How can I push my career? Which position am I striving for? Which qualifications do I need for this? Anyone in the workforce will probably ask themselves these questions at some point in their working life. Sometimes even during initial training, but certainly after having worked for several years. One thing is certain: continuing training is the key to advancement and success in working life.
It includes not only job-related courses and Meister programmes but also language learning, completion of school qualifications in adult life or leisure-oriented educational programmes. Government grants are available for many continuing training programmes.
General continuing education

Germany has agreed to EU-level targets for participation of adults in learning by 2025 and 2030. The national goal we have set ourselves is to see 65 percent of all adults aged 25-64 participating in continuing education by 2030. Participation in any kind of educational programme is counted, whether provided by adult education centres, schools, education organizations, universities, companies or private coaches.
